The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered former State Intelligence Service Director Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay to provide the Criminal Investigation Department with the passwords to his mobile phone and computer as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.
The order was issued on Wednesday by Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena, while Sallay remains detained and questioned under a detention order in connection with the attacks.

12-hr water cut for Colombo & surrounding areas
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 12-hour water cut affecting Colombo and several surrounding areas on Saturday (July 04), due to essential maintenance and power system upgrade works.
The interruption will be in effect from 9.00am – 9.00pm.
According to the NWSDB, the water supply will be suspended as electricity to the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant is temporarily disconnected to facilitate essential maintenance work at the Mulleriyawa Grid Substation. In addition, power system upgrades will be carried out at the Dehiwala Water Pumping Station and the Maligawatte Elie House Pumping Station.
The affected areas are : Colombo 1 to 15, Battaramulla, Pelawatta, Hokandara, Koswatta, Thalawathugoda, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Rajagiriya, Mirihana, Madiwela, Nugegoda, Nawala, Kolonnawa, IDH, Kotikawatta, Angoda, Wellampitiya, Orugodawatta, Kaduwela, Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa and Piliyandala.

Krrish Case : FCID response sought on seized devices
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (July 02) directed the OIC of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) to make submissions tomorrow (July03) on a request to release several electronic devices seized in the Krrish transaction investigation.
The order was made by the Colombo Chief Magistrate after considering a motion filed on behalf of the applicant by President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris.
The application was filed on behalf of W.D.N.H. Perera, who had sought to release several electronic devices including laptops and mobile phones belonging to him and his son, which were seized during a police search.
The court ordered the FCID to respond when the matter is taken up tomorrow.
Homagama bus depot fined
Homagama Magistrate – Rajindra Jayasuriya today (July 02) fined the Homagama bus depot Rs. 25,000 after the site was found to be a breeding site for mosquitos.
A case was filed after the Pitipana PHI of the Homagama MoH office had submitted facts to the Magistrate’s Court.
It was further revealed in court that before the case was filed, the same PHI had issued red warnings to the deport on four occasions, ordering them to clean up the premises.
India to tour SL next month for 2-Test series
India will tour Sri Lanka in August 2026 for a two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027 cycle, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced.
According to an SLC media release, the two matches will be played as follows :
First Test : August 15–19 – Galle International Cricket Stadium, Galle
Second Test : August 23–27 – Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo
Both matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
