A total of 104 inmates from Mahara Prison have reportedly been transferred to seven other prisons following the unrest at the prison.
Commissioner of Prisons (Operations) and Media Spokesman A.C. Gajanayake said the inmates had been transferred to Dumbara, Welikada, Boossa, Kalutara, Badulla, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa prisons.
In a statement, he said a list containing the names of the transferred inmates had been displayed near the roadblock at Mahara Prison.
Gajanayake further said visits to inmates at Mahara Prison would resume after Monday and Tuesday, due to ongoing repair work at the prison.

Security forces were able to bring the situation completely under control by around 6.00 a.m. today (2), while inmates are reported to have caused extensive damage to prison property.
One inmate was killed and six others were injured in the unrest.
