Ravikaran calls for DNA testing to identify Chemmani mass grave victims by Thara
Mullaitivu District MP Thurairasa Ravikaran has called for DNA samples from families of the forcibly disappeared to be collected, with their consent, and compared with human remains recovered from the Chemmani mass grave.
Speaking in parliament, Ravikaran said there was a legal and scientific necessity to preserve genetic samples from families searching for their missing relatives and compare them with the remains uncovered at Chemmani.

MoH donates new drug testing bus
The Ministry of Health has donated another bus to the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development to support the ongoing mobile drug testing programme to ensure a safer and more regulated public transport system.
The bus, bearing number PZA – 0040, was officially presented by Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa, who also serves as Chief Organizer of the Government Party in Parliament, to Professor Clifford Perera, Chairman of the National Transport Medical Institute, at a ceremony held at the Ministry premises.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Additional Secretaries Janaka Kitsiri Gunawardena, Dr. Kumara Wickramasinghe, Harshani Sirinama, Director (Transport) Muditha Wimalasena, and M.S.M. 2026 A/L results to be released before year-end
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari has stated that measures will be taken to release results of the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination before the end of this year.
Paper marking is scheduled to begin on Sep. 03.
The 2026 G.C.E. A/L exam, which began today (Aug. 10), with 372,310 candidates sitting the examination across 2,532 centres, will continue until Sep. 05.
