A train operating from Hikkaduwa to Maradana has been delayed after developing a technical fault.

The train encountered technical difficulties while stopping at Beruwala and Maggona railway stations, disrupting its scheduled journey towards Maradana.

Baby Shark Boy, also known as Park Geon-roung, is ready to start a new journey as a K-pop singer. 

Park, who became famous as a child after appearing in The Pinkfong Company’s popular ‘Baby Shark’ video is now making his singing debut at the age of 17 after he was only seven years old when he appeared in the video.

For the unversed, The ‘Baby Shark’ song was released years ago, but Pinkfong’s 2016 music video made it a worldwide hit.

The Pinkfong Company has announced that Park’s first single, ‘Wave’, will be released in South Korea on August 20.

President – BASL to meet today

The special discussion between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) is scheduled for today (Aug. 12) at 1.00 p.m.

The meeting is being held following an invitation extended by the President to the BASL to discuss the  Government’s proposal to increase the retirement age of judges.

The BASL delegation is expected to include President Rajeev Amarasuriya, Secretary Nalin de Silva, Vice President President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne, members of the Management Committee and Executive Committee, as well as several former presidents of the association.

Around 03 months ago, the BASL wrote to the President requesting a discussion on the proposed constitutional amendment to extend the retirement age of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges.

The association subsequently submitted another letter outlining its position on the proposed amendment.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (Aug. 12), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Several spells of showers may also occur in the North Western Province during the day.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Batticaloa, Ampara and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m.

The general public has also been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary, localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

A meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and a senior delegation from China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), led by Zhang Bingnan, was held this afternoon (Aug. 11) at the Presidential Secretariat.

The meeting focused primarily on projects currently being implemented and proposed future projects centred on Colombo Port City.

Senior representatives of CCCC noted that the President’s forward-looking programmes and policies have emerged as a key factor in encouraging foreign investment.

They emphasised that the confidence placed in the Government’s current programme of work has encouraged the company to explore bringing further significant investment opportunities to Sri Lanka.
