The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court was informed that the Kotahena Police have launched investigations to identify and arrest the suspects who allegedly shot dead the uncle of overseas-based organised crime figure Kanjipani Imran.
The incident took place on Aug. 10.
Police Sergeant (12104) Kalum Priyantha told the court that 54-year-old Mohamed Azmi Mohideen, a resident of Poorwarama Road, Kirulapone, was shot dead by 02 unidentified gunmen in front of a building materials shop on Sangharaja Mawatha, Colombo 10.
The police officer said the gunmen had shot the victim in the head and neck before fleeing the scene.
He further informed the court that investigations are being conducted using CCTV footage from security cameras to identify and arrest the suspects.
Colombo Additional Magistrate, Liyan Warusawithana, ordered Kotahena Police to conduct investigations to apprehend the suspects and report the progress of the investigation to
