Sri Lanka Police says that Red Notices have been issued through Interpol to apprehend and bring back 93 wanted suspects hiding overseas in connection with crimes committed in Sri Lanka.
Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler revealed this while participating in a special press conference held today (Aug.13).
He further stated that 38 suspects had been repatriated to Sri Lanka through Interpol Red Notices during 2024, 2025, and in 2026 so far.
In addition, the Police Media Spokesman revealed that another 35 prominent and notorious criminals had been brought back to the country through the direct intervention of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Meanwhile, the police spokesman also said that a special programme is underway to confiscate assets allegedly acquired through illegal activities by suspects brought back to Sri Lanka.
The assets include vehicles, houses, gold and land, he added.<
