Surcharge imposed on imported vehicles extended until December

The 50% surcharge imposed by the Government on vehicle import duties, which was due to remain in effect until tomorrow (15), has been extended until December.

Accordingly, the extension will apply from tomorrow until 31 December.

The extension has been made under the powers vested in the President by Section 10A of the Customs Ordinance (Chapter 235), as amended by Act No. 83 of 1988.

However, this order will not apply to imports of motor vehicles for which letters of credit were opened on or before 15 May.
