22A to be presented to Parliament on Aug. 18

Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara has said the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill, which seeks to extend the retirement age of judges in Sri Lanka, will be presented to Parliament next Tuesday (Aug. 18).

The reforms have drawn strong opposition from the Chief Prelates, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), opposition political parties and several international organizations.

Speaking to media, the minister has further said that the Judicial Organizations Amendment Bill will also be tabled in Parliament on the same day.
