2 arrested over Kandawala Junction shooting

Two suspects allegedly linked to the fatal shooting near Kandawala Junction in Ratmalana have been arrested by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau.

The shooting took place near Kandawala Junction in the Mount Lavinia Police Division on Aug. 01, following which police launched an extensive investigation.

Acting on a tip-off, investigators arrested one of the suspects in Ratmalana yesterday (Aug. 13), while he was allegedly in possession of 22 g of Crystal Methamphetamine (‘Ice’).

Another suspect was arrested in Dehiwala on the same day.

The suspects, aged 41 and 48, are residents of the Dehiwala area.

Investigations have reportedly revealed that the suspects transported firearms allegedly used in the shooting and provided the shooter with facilities to conceal himself, thereby allegedly aiding and abetting the offence.

Further investigations are underway.
