SL student stabbed to death in Japan

A 21-year-old Sri Lankan student has reportedly been stabbed to death in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, according to foreign media reports.

The deceased was studying in Japan and was staying at the same accommodation as the alleged attacker, an 18-year-old Sri Lankan national.

According to Japanese police, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a knife at around 10.20 a.m. on Aug. 11.

The suspect reportedly called Japan’s emergency number, 119, following the incident and informed authorities.

The injured student was subsequently taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Subsequently, Japanese police have arrested the 18-year-old suspect.

Police investigations have reportedly revealed that the incident followed an argument between the two.

During questioning, he reportedly confessed to attacking the victim after losing his temper over alleged insults directed at him and his mother.
