Special traffic plan for Bellanwila Esala Perahera

Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several roads from Aug. 13 – 15 in connection with the annual Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya Esala Maha Perahera in Boralesgamuwa Police Division, police said.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during procession hours to avoid delays

The first traffic restriction will be imposed tomorrow (Aug. 13) from 7.00 a.m. to around 10.00 a.m.

During this period, traffic along Route 119 (Maharagama–Dehiwala) between Boralesgamuwa Junction and Bellanthara Junction will be restricted.

Vehicles travelling from Maharagama or Piliyandala towards Dehiwala can use Pepiliyana Junction, turn left towards Bellanthara via the Spar Roundabout and continue through Nedimala.

Vehicles travelling from Werahera Junction towards Boralesgamuwa and Galle Road can use Gangaramaya Road and proceed via Golumadama Junction.

The Ranseevali Perahera will be held from 8.00 p.m. on Aug. 14 until around 2.00 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Traffic restrictions will again be imposed along Route 119 between Boralesgamuwa and Bellanthara Junctions as the procession travels towards Bellanthara before returning via Somaratne Mawatha and Vihara Mawatha.

Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Maharagama can turn left at Bellanthara Junction and proceed to Pepiliyana Junction via Route 117 before continuing towards Boralesgamuwa Junction.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Maharagama towards Dehiwala can use Pepiliyana Junction and Route 117, or travel towards Piliyandala and access Katubedda Road.

Light vehicles can use Malani Bulathsinhala Road, Pitawella Road and Kahawita Mawatha to reach Route 117

The main Randoli Maha Perahera will be held from 8.00 p.m. on Aug. 15 until around 4.00 a.m. on Aug. 16, with wider traffic restrictions in and around Boralesgamuwa, Bellanthara and Nedimala.

Restrictions will also be imposed along Route 117 (Ratmalana–Nugegoda Road) between the Attidiya Police Training College Junction and Pepiliyana Junction.

Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala towards Dehiwala can use Kohuwala Junction and the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road.

Vehicles travelling from Mount Lavinia and Ratmalana towards Maharagama can use Attidiya Bakery Junction, Galle Road, Kohuwala and William Grinding Mills.

Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Pepiliyana can use Andrews Road from Nedimala Junction and proceed towards Kohuwala.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Horana, Piliyandala, Kesbewa and Maharagama towards Galle Road are advised to use Kohuwala Junction and the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Colombo towards Galle Road via Papiliyana or Boralesgamuwa Junctions should proceed to Piliyandala Junction, turn right onto Katubedda Road and access Galle Road via Katubedda Junction.
