Yuvraj and Kalra granted bail over alleged LPL match-fixing proposal
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (31) ordered the release on bail of two suspects, including the Indian owner of the Jaffna Kings franchise, who had been remanded after being arrested over allegations of proposing to fix matches in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) for financial gain.
The suspects released on bail are Indian national Manjot Kalra and Yuvraj Pushpa, who is alleged to have aided and abetted the offence.
After prison officials produced the suspects before court, the Chief Magistrate ordered their release on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 500,000 each and a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 each.
The Magistrate also imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspects and ordered them to report every Monday to the Special Investigation Unit for the Prevention of Sports-related Offences.
