11th National Scout Jamboree set for Jan. 2027
A discussion on the organisational arrangements and progress of the 11th National Scout Jamboree, organised by the Sri Lanka Scout Association, was held yesterday (July 30) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The 11th National Scout Jamboree, organised to mark the 115th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, is scheduled to be held from Jan. 17 to 23, 2027 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Sports Complex in Diyagama.
The meeting reviewed the current progress of preparations for the Jamboree, including organisational arrangements, the mobilisation of support from state and semi-government institutions and the responsibilities to be assigned to the respective agencies.
The discussion was attended by Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, President of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Ransiri Perera, Chief Scout Commissioner Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media K. P. Yogachandra, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Amal Edirisuriya, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Krishani C. Withanage, Assistant Secretary to the President and Special Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Samith Thalakiriyawa, Chairman of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha Kasun Ratnayake, Commissioner of Prisons (Supplies and Services) B. D. M. G. B. Dissanayake, officials representing the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other state institutions, representatives of sponsor organisations and senior officers of the armed forces and the police.
