CBFC Seeks Government Intervention to Ban “Marco” on OTT Platforms

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is calling for government intervention to prevent the release of the Malayalam action thriller “Marco” on OTT platforms, citing the film’s extreme violent content.

Directed by Rafiq Ahmed and starring Unni Mukundan, “Marco” has been a hot topic since its theatrical release on December 20, 2024. The film’s graphic violence has stirred controversy, prompting the CBFC to block its television satellite rights. The board’s primary concern is protecting viewers, especially younger audiences, from explicit scenes.

Despite these efforts, “Marco” is streaming on popular platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV, and Aha, in multiple languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
