Rajinikanth Blesses ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’: Nayanthara Returns in Grand Sequel with Sundar C’s Direction

The buzz around the sequel to the 2020 blockbuster “Mookuthi Amman” is palpable. Fans are thrilled to learn that the divine Nayanthara is all set to reprise her role in this much-anticipated film. Directed by Sundar C, the sequel promises to bring more of the charm that made the original so beloved.

Scheduled to kick off with a grand ceremony in Chennai on March 6, 2025, “Mookuthi Amman 2” comes with an impressive budget of Rs 100 crore. This substantial investment hints at the visual and narrative grandeur that audiences can expect.

Superstar Rajinikanth has extended his heartfelt wishes to the team, adding to the excitement. Sundar C, celebrated for his work in films like “Aranmanai 4,” is poised to weave his magic once again. His upcoming film “Gangers,” featuring Vadivelu and Catherine Teresa, is set to release on April 24, 2025, further building anticipation for his projects.

Nayanthara, known as the “Lady Superstar,” has an impressive lineup of films ahead. She will star in the sports drama “Test,” directed by S. Sashikanth, alongside Madhavan, Meera Jasmine, and Siddharth. The film is set against the backdrop of a historic international cricket test match in Chennai. Additionally, she will appear in “Mannangatti: Since 1960,” a period drama directed by Dude Vicky, and the Malayalam film “MMMN,” directed by Mahesh Narayanan, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal.

The original “Mookuthi Amman,” directed by RJ Balaji and N. J. Saravanan, was a fantasy-comedy that cleverly used humor and satire to expose fraudulent godmen.
