She made this submission when the case was taken up once again before Siyapath Sasindu Wickramaratne at the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court, marking the first appearance by the Attorney General’s Department in connection with the matter.

When the case was called, the Chief Magistrate sought an update from the Nittambuwa Police Station regarding the progress of the investigations.

Chief Inspector P. M. Anura Gunawardena of the Nittambuwa Police stated that the report relating to the initial DNA examination had already been received, while the second DNA report was still pending.

Police further informed the court that telephone analysis reports concerning the mobile phones of the suspect monk, the alleged victim and the victim’s mother had already been obtained and submitted to court as part of the ongoing investigations.
