Sri Lanka’s Parliament faces a risk of a cyber attack on its digital systems, according to Parliament’s 2025 Annual Performance Report.

The report states that the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) conducted an assessment of Parliament’s information and cyber security during the year under review.

According to the Annual Performance Report, of the 56 areas examined during the assessment, 46 were found to present a high level of risk.

The report further notes that there is a risk of malicious activities such as unauthorised access to Parliament’s digital systems through the misuse of cyber technology, the theft of sensitive information, disruption of institutional operations, and the defacement of websites, thereby damaging the reputation of the institution.

A Sub-Inspector attached to Dehiwala Police Station has been arrested for allegedly engaging in drug trafficking.

The arrested Sub-Inspector had served in the Police for three years.

The suspect is a resident of Matara.

Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler stated that the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Dehiwala Police Station has commenced further investigations.

The OIC, after examining the individuals with whom the Sub-Inspector had been associating, established that he had been involved in drug trafficking.

The Police Media Spokesman further stated that additional investigations into the suspect will be conducted by the Officer-in-Charge of the Dehiwala Crime Division.

The Minister made this announcement while addressing a special farmers’ meeting held in Anuradhapura.

The report was jointly prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Department of Agrarian Development, the Department of Agriculture, the Institute of Post-Harvest Technology, and the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute.

According to the consolidated cost report, the cost of producing one kilogram of Red Nadu paddy is Rs. 76, while the cost of producing one kilogram of White Nadu paddy is Rs. 87.

The report further states that the cost of producing one kilogram of Samba paddy is Rs. 97, while the cost of producing one kilogram of Keeri Samba paddy is Rs. 119.
