Rakhitha & 2 others released on bail
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (July 28) has ordered the release on bail of Rakhitha Rajapaksa, the son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Charith Abeysinghe, former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) organiser for the Horana electorate, and Aruna Warunahandige, a former director of the Civil Aviation Authority.
The suspects were arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 120 million to facilitate the transfer of organised crime suspect Nadun Chinthaka alias ‘Harak Kata’ from his detention facility to a regular prison.
They were previously ordered to be remanded until today after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
