Devinuwara Esala Perahera kicks off today amid threats
The 769th annual Esala Perahera festival of the historic Devinuwara Vishnu Devalaya will commence today (July 23) with the ‘Peli’ Perahera.
The grand ‘Randoli’ Perahera is scheduled to be held on July 29.
Basnayake Nilame of the Devinuwara Vishnu Devalaya – Thilina Madhusankha, said the ‘Kolmura Yagaya’ will be held on Aug. 04, followed by the ‘Maha Dewa Danaya’ on Aug. 05, marking the conclusion of this year’s Esala festival.
