SLC emphasises zero tolerance on corruption as 2026 LPL kicks of today
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 will commence this evening (July 17) at the SSC Grounds, Colombo, as planned, despite reports of a Jaffna Kings franchise owner being arrested by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) for the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports.
In an official statement, SLC said it will extend its fullest cooperation to the SIU should any assistance be sought in connection with inquiries arising from the matter.
SLC stressed its zero‑tolerance approach to corruption and unethical practices, assuring fans and stakeholders that the 2026 edition of the LPL will be conducted with the utmost dignity and integrity.
The SLC further said it has taken all necessary measures to ensure the tournament is conducted under the highest ethical and integrity standards. Its Anti‑Corruption Unit has been working closely with the SIU to strengthen the league’s anti‑corruption framework.ans and stakeholders that the 2026 edition of the LPL will be conducted with the utmost dignity and integrity.
