PM Harini returns after Qatar visit
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya returned to Sri Lanka this morning (July 16) after concluding an official visit to the State of Qatar.
The Prime Minister undertook the visit to formally convey the condolences of the Government and people of Sri Lanka following the passing of the former Emir of Qatar.
During the visit, she called on the current Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Lusail Palace in Doha and conveyed Sri Lanka’s condolences.
She also conveyed the condolences of the Sri Lankan Government to Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, mother of the current Emir of Qatar and Chairperson of Qatar Foundation.
In addition, Prime Minister Amarasuriya extended her sympathies to the daughters of the late former Emir, Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, as well as other members of the Qatari Royal Family.
