Forum in Colombo on Volume V of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Pics)
A forum, titled ‘The China–Sri Lanka Readers Forum on Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V)’ was held in Colombo yesterday (July 03).
The event, held in a backdrop where the Communist Party of China recently celebrated their 105th founding anniversary, was graced by Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament – Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne as chief guest.
The event, held under the theme – “Toward a Shared Future : China and Sri Lanka on the Path to Modernisation”, was hosted by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China, the China International Communications Group and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka.
It was organised by the Foreign Languages Press and the CICG Center for Europe and Asia.
Speakers at the event included : Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament – Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka – Mr. Qi Zhenhong, Editor-in Chief of the Foreign Languages Press – Ms. Ding Zhitao, Mr. Hu Kaihong – Deputy Head of China’s Central Office of Cultural and Ethical Progress, Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education of Sri Lanka – Dr. Madhura Senevirathna, Vice President of the China International Communications Group (CICG), General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka – Mr. Geeganage Weerasinghe, President of the China Aid Training Alumni in Sri Lanka and Director of Public Information Division at the Open University of Sri Lanka – Mr. Sanjeewa Wimalagunarathana and General Manager of Investment Department, China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) Sri Lanka Division.
An insightful exchange and discussion was also held while copies of the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V) and the Sinhalese edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume II) were presented to guests.
