National Poson Week begins today
National Poson Week commenced today (June 26).
This year’s theme is “Quelling the Flames of War through the Teachings of the Buddha.”
A series of religious observances and programmes have been organized at sacred sites, including Mihintale, the Anuradhapura Atamasthana, and Thanthirimale.
Anuradhapura District Secretary – Ranjith Wimalasuriya said all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate the large number of devotees expected to visit Anuradhapura during Poson Week, which will continue until July 02.
Meanwhile, special transport facilities have also been deployed in view of the Poson season.
